Box It, Don't Toss It! Keeping Those Unused Items With Self Storage

Relocation According to the US Census Bureau, the average American moves 11.7 times in their lifetime. With every move, purchasing new furniture or appliances often comes with the territory. Old items that are no longer in use, such as a crib for a baby or an old lamp that doesn't match the new color scheme are often discarded. Things get tossed into the garbage to make room for new items or just to make more space. This brings up a good question: how often do people throw things away in haste, for convenience sake or otherwise, only to end up buying the same item again sometime down the road, or regretting their hurried decision. A less costly alternative to ditching the things you aren't currently using that have potential for future use is self storage.
Sharing Space For individuals without kids, consider the transition of combining two households when you and your significant other make the decision to get married and/or move in together. This colossal task usually ends up with a considerable amount of each person's personal belongings being thrown out, generally more of one person's stuff than the other (sorry fella's). But don't fret; there is a way for you to keep that big, neon-lit beer sign that once hung in your college dorm room, along with your framed band posters and bean bag chair. While these things may not have much in the way of monetary value, they can be sentimentally priceless. Why not rent a reasonably priced storage unit that is big enough to fit those bachelor pad items that just don't match the decor of your new, shared living space? For a reasonable monthly fee, you can keep these items safe, and most importantly, out of sight at a clean and secure self storage unit With marriage comes compromise, and if that means putting that old stuffed moose head in a storage unit instead of mounting it over the fireplace, at least you can know it is safe in a clean storage facility, locked away with all of the other things that just didn't quite fit, instead of at the bottom of a landfill somewhere, gone forever. A San Diego self storage unit be the perfect place for those items you just don't have the heart to throw away.

Top-level comments on this article: (2 total)That's a lot of moving that Americans do. The world becomes increasingly nomadic, strange. It makes sense to store important things, I guess.Thank you for the feedback Jennifer, we are definitely living in a very mobile society.
I think the guy almost looses out, not sure why but the thing that are kept are the things that we give in on.I agree, the women are the ones who often get the final say in situations like that. At least we still have self storage though!
